Liz Wunderlich, Caribbean Manager for The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF), collaborated with the Bahamas Ministry of Education this year through the Bahamas Family and Consumer Science Unit. Liz visited schools throughout The Bahamas, distributing meat samples and presenting their "Contemporary Caribbean Cuisine: The Textbook for Professionals" reference book, which includes history, recipes, and demonstration videos. A series of workshops were also organized for students studying "Family & Consumer Science," as well as the addition of the subject area of "Hospitality & Tourism" to the Young Chef Culinary Competition.Liz was accompanied by Young Chef-Chef Judges, who aided her with the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of meats by Linz beef tri-tip, as well as providing students and teachers with an overview of "look for" and judging criteria for future Competitions.The premium meat will be used in a "Signature Dish Challenge" by Young Chef preliminary winners on November 14th during the 7th Annual Young Chef Culinary Conference.
