
Preston H. Albury High School claimed both the junior and senior titles at the 32nd annual Bahamas Young Chef Culinary Competitions, held January 31, 2025, at Government High School.
Ninth grader Simmia Lafleur and 11th grader Michaela Dorsett captured first place, earning scholarships, gold medals, plaques, floating trophies, and awards from Johnson & Wales University, including a renewable $10,000 scholarship for Dorsett. Those recipients included Kahree Bowe from Kingsway Academy, Kendrianique Forbes from Central Eleuthera High, and Amina Eneas who is homeschooled.
The nationwide competition, sponsored by Mahatma Rice and Robin Hood Flour, featured finalists from 22 schools across The Bahamas. Runners-up also received scholarships and awards.
Education Minister Glenys Hanna Martin congratulated the finalists, encouraging them to remain innovative while showcasing authentic Bahamian cuisine. The 2025 competition begins in September.
